Hikvision Cybersecurity Director: Password Tips for Individuals to Reduce Cybersecurity Threats

December 05, 2017

Hikvision’s director of cybersecurity, Chuck Davis, together with the Hikvision Security Lab at Hikvision headquarters, is leading the cybersecurity program for Hikvision North America, overseeing all internal and external cybersecurity initiatives and programs in the region. As part of these efforts, Davis is offering tips and best practices that Hikvision partners and end users can implement to reduce vulnerabilities and security concerns.

“Cybersecurity needs to be a concern for everyone in this industry,” Davis told Security Systems News in an email interview.

Davis recommends the following password tips to help individuals improve security and reduce cybersecurity threats:

  • Everywhere possible, enable multi-factor authentication.
  • Use strong passwords with at least 8 (ideally 12) or more characters with at least one of each: uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters.
  • Use a password vault so you can securely store, and not have to remember, all of your passwords.
